The story here is a man sent into an alternate dimension to retrieve a gem stone.
He wars up in the massive cave unable to remember how he got there or where he came from.
All he can remember is what he is supposed to do and that something bad will happen if he fails.
Him confronting the man called Pantheon who owns the gem stone.
After he wakes up and is dodging blasts and running for his life trying to find someplace to hide.

Volker (the old lady) is sending aliens into a portal to retrieve a power gem but none of them are returning.
She assumes they are all dying.
